I just bought this for $19.95. What the hell right? Might as well give it a shot if you say it has held up through 2 damn years already. At that rate I could just replace it after 2 years for another 20 bucks. =p A PENNY SAVED IS A PENNY EARNED SIRS.
Yup!

Did you guys take off the chrome then added the vinyl or did you just open the doors and roll down the windows? Lol Sounds like a stupid question but im serious.

I tried tape before, you don't need to roll down windows or anything. Just tape right over the Chrome. Only thing I'd suggest is washing the surface a bit before you do so to remove dirt or grime so its a clean stick.

ONE QUESTION THOUGH........

Would this vinyl tape survive automatic car washes?

It's quality stuff. Through some car washes no prob and even the hard bristle brush cleaning off the snow from my windows last winter. I didn't realize I was brushing up against the vinyl trim and was like OH SH!T but there wasn't a mark on it. The stuff I got off ebay in the link I posted has a 7 or 9 year outdoor life rating.

Sweet! I can't wait to try it out. Did you have to trim with a razor blade during application?

Yeah there will be some excess so just trim it with a sharp razor blade.

Ive been slacking. Im gonna try to do this this weekend haha. If the vinyl doesnt work out Ill buy the real shadowline. The guy with the vinyl is right down the street from me. Its cheap and I know first hand the quality is great. It goes through car washes fine (used to have it covering my orange sides). Eugenes wasnt bad either Ive seen it.

Ya what the hell. The shadowline is like 220 bucks for matte black and then another 100 probably for labor to have someone install it. Can't beat $20.00 tape and a razor blade. =p

Yeah No kidding, you already have the trim, all it is is a different color. I should have mine this week. Any idea how long it takes to put on the entire car?
