Funny thing, Chrome Trim was an upgrade on the E46. Seems like black/shadowline is an upgrade that comes with sport on the e60.

It's funny. In Europe the 4-cyl 3-series have no chrome, but the 6-cyl does. And if you have a 6-cyl 3-series you have to pay to get rid of the chrome...

The best looking trim (which I have for both our 1-series and 5-series) is with no doubt high gloss shadowline, that is what I think you guys ordering OEM parts should go for. It looks much more classy than the matte trim.
