Satellite Receiver Issue

Satellite Receiver Issue
Has anyone experience a problem with their satellite receiver where it's trying to acquire the signal sent by Sirius XM and it fails? I've had the signal refreshed over 10 times with no success. I've also checked the wiring/connections, etc including trying all of different processes that I've read about on other BMW sites with no success. I spoke with the dealer and they want to charge $145.00 for diagnostics and $345.00 if a software update is needed.
I purchased the car CPO in 2013 and never got a XM subscription until now to find out that the satellite system isn't working. My suspicion is the receiver never worked and I'm caught with this problem. I also spoke with BMW USA and they probably won't assist me with this issue either. So much for CPO.
Does anyone have any ideas?
thanks,

You're going to have to pony-up for a diagnostics fee to determine if the car computer can communicate with the satellite radio module. Hopefully so, because it is a $1500 module if it is broken, unless you go the ebay route.

Hello,
Yes. I know and BMW is insane for charging these outrageous prices. I spoke with a car audio repair center who can test the receiver to see if it's bad for $45.00. If the receiver is bad, I'm done. No satellite for me!! If the receiver is good, then I'll try to negotiate a much lower price for this so-called software update. It's my understanding from speaking with Sirius XM that I should hear the XM preview from channel 184 regardless and I don't heat that, so I'll see what's going on.
Thanks,

I have 2008 535i
Just get my satellite receiver from EBay, cost me $275
Install my self, then went to BMW to program. Charge me $125 for programming.

The BMWWhat App for Android devices gets pretty good reviews.

What are you being charged for the updates? I'm missing channels 11 and 12 and would like to know if it is a software update or something else? Sirius told me my module is old and can't receive those stations but I assume that was some dude in India trying to get me off the phone.
