I have a 2006 M5 and when I ordered the car I did not order sat nav with it because at that time sat nav was not available in Hong Kong. But this year it is available in HK. I want to know whether I can have sat nav fitted from the factory now.

Contrary to some people on the board I think that there's not much point to the factory fitted sat nav from BMW. I have one on my Z4 and I hate it. I've ordered my new E 61 without it.
1. BMW's Sat Nav is pretty lousy.
2. Being a DVD based unit it will quickly become out dated as new roads / infrastructure are built forcing you to pay out more each time whenever a new DVD is released
3. A portable GPS system based on satelite data which can be updated via USB on your home PC every day and then switched to a second car or just put in your pocket as you stroll around a new city is a much better option - for much less money !

I do understand your point, but I still prefer factory fitted sat nav because it looks much neater than having a pocket pc stuck to the windscreen.

Granted.
Good luck with the retro-fit.

... and you'll get the directions on your windscreen with the HUD in place, which is a feature I "cannot live without".

Oh I would love that, but having HUD retro-fitted is major major problem and I can't imagine what they will charge !! So at the moment I will be happy if I can get the 16:9 screen fitted.

Call your dealer or BMW, give them your VIN # to see if you can have NAV retrofitted. If your car doesn't have the factory prep. wiring for NAV it will be pretty difficult and expensive.
