My Ride: 2008 535i Options: Sports Pkg/ Premium Pkg/ Navigation/ USB(iPod) Mods: Tint (lolololol) any ideas? I LOVE THIS CAR!!! (WAAAAAYYYYY better than my previous MB E350, but quite a bit more expensive :( )
Default

So as most and probably all of you guys know.....I am 18. My parents got a 535i and I am the one who drives it the most and mods it. Today, my mom decided to take it to work....on the way home....she got a massive cramp in her leg and grabbed it with her right hand. While this happened, the person in front of her hit the brakes hard, and in stop and go traffic at around 15 mph, my mom wanted to do the same but her foot slipped and hit the accelerator and went into the Lincoln Navigator at around 45-50. Low and behold, the Lincoln looks fine, but mine does not.....AT ALLL!!!!!! I thank god that my mom came out w/o a scratch, but the car didnt. From here it looks as though it's totalled, but family friends say, it looks fixable. So time will tell. I have been getting a lot of support from friends and family not only because my mom came out of it ok, but also because everyone knows how much I love and adore that 5er. I will keep you posted and will post pics tomorrow on this thread.

Sincerely,

Jay

wow sorry for this incident..

yes post pictures and we can tell you... did airbag deployed??? most cases you can fix it and they are not going to total the car such as 535i easily unless there is a frame damage... if it is just hood and bumper they will get new one and fix them.... is car still running?

Yeah....my mom was asked by the policeman to drive the car up and she was able to drive it up about 10 yards. It was running and no airbags deployed. I also am thinking it was just hood and bumper damage, but there looks like oil is splattered all over the inside. Plus the radiator is gone. Will they replace that?

car can be replaced. Plus there's insurance. I am glad ur mom came out fine. But how come airbags didnt deploy? I dont think she rammed in at 40-50. Maybe a lot less. 40-50 will be massive destruction. Good luck with everything buddy.

well if she can drive little then no major damage on engine... probably they will replace hood and bumper and lights if it is broken and replace radiators and brackets...

i think it is repairable because i see alot of car that is worse than yours and they were able to repair that instead of total the car

My mom saw that it was somewhere between 40 and 50. That's why my dad and I are sooooo pissed off at BMW. My mom got an error code that said: "SRS Malfunction" WTF is up with that? If they fix my car, I am gonna look to get an M Tech bumper or SOMETHING outta them. This is BS.

What if my mom had been going much faster....she wouldn't be here right now and whose fault would that be? Of course the responsability is the drivers, but if the safety features aren't working, WHY THE HELL PAY 65k for that crap??? I could pay 20k, get a civic, and never have to worry about that crap happening. Think you guys understand how frustrated I am.

sorry to hear, but sure glad your mom's okay

and from what it sounds like, ur bimmer should be back on its [wheels] in no time
and you're right about the SRS malfunction, you shouldn't have to put up with these kinds of errors in a 65k car
