It is a Ram Air Intake that directs air to the air inlet at speed. It has demonstrated 5-8 HP gains (RPI Dyno #'s) and I know that after installing it I feel a little better power when passing on the freeway, also, MPG has been positively affected (before 22.6 / current 22.9 and counting). So it does help and it's also the only CAI or Ram Air Intake I have seen for our cars with proven gains in power. It's also one of the least expensive mods possible.

It essentially deflects more air into your air intake increasing hp. I personally do not have one but from what ive heard theyre great! Plus the faster you go the more power the scoops add, so i guess its just an excuse to go faster...

+1 - I DO have one and you can feel a difference when trying to pass at speed. Great way to start the modding process (Scoop and Sprint Booster great way to start off)

I wouldnt say its the only one as the Dinan CAI adds a significant boost although youre definitely right that for the price it is one of the best upgrades you can get

Not sure about shipping, but you don't NEED to change your airfilter, but it's recommended for greater HP gains.
