I am from the Central Valley, I made sure that the heat wouldn't affect the car before I bought my scoop from Trinity. I got it last month, so I don't really know how it handles in the heat, but I suspect there will not be any problems.

Great to see someone else on this forum from the Central Valley too!

I think you guys are missing Pointerman's question. He's worried that the scoop is interfering with air that's supposed to hit the radiator, not that it's deflecting hot air into the intake.

Or maybe it's me that's missing the bus.
No, you got the point. That was my concern. Sounds like no one thinks it will be an issue, but no outside source has had any real world experience with this in the heat. I'll probably just wait until the fall to do this and make sure no one starts a thread complaining about over heating.

RPI stated they had it run smoothly in 140 degree conditions

did you want someone else to prove that as well

Not really, but I'd have to say a claim of driving around in 140 degrees would make me question what planet he drove the car on.

My research shows the hottest temp in the US happened in 1913 and a mere 134 degrees.

Hottest temp recorded on the planet was in in Libya in 1922 and was 136 degrees.

Sarcasm aside, the car has no temp gauge, so blocking off part of the radiator makes me nervous. I'll wait a bit for some more real world experience just in case.

Well, RPI guys are defending themselves in this thread again... RPI is not perfect! there are disadvantages like everyone even DINAN, etc...

Manufacturers vs customers..... just so wrong.

Who are you referring to as RPI guys? Only RPIpower (Eloy) replied stating facts about the scoops so I'm not sure what you mean by RPI is not perfect. Well, no one is but just curious why you pointed that out.

There are M5 owners using RPI scoops in Texas and Vegas without any reported problems and I'm sure those places are generally hotter than most places in CA.

To be very clear. I purchased the RPI exhaust and can't wait for it to arrive. Not sure why anyone might be thinking I am anti RPI or anything. They seem to be an excellent company.

On that note, is there a way to modify the title of a thread you started?
