What is that tube and why does it need to be plugged?

Its a vaccum tube...It opens a butterfly in the exhaust when at higher rpms I think...

E, That looks to be a 550...Does that mean we have a 550 prototype? Did you just step up the pipe on the 545 exhaust to match the 550?
