First I put one strip/layer on the spoiler, then ripped the cover of that tape off, and then I put another strip/layer onto the first strip --> 2 layers. This gives some more flexibility to attachment, and I needed this because my ACS replica roof spoiler wasn't exactly as curvy as my rear window.

+1 for antti's method.
the spoiler i had wasn't sitting 100% right so i added like 2-3 layers of double sided tape. went up to 200kmph and didn't fly off

The 3m that came on my AC deck and window wings worked great but I had the trunk repaired and the crap the body shop used to remount it sucked and luckily I caught it before it came off.. so all tape is not created equal...
