Roof bars
I got removeable Yakima set for mine for skiing and boarding. Works great. Looking at it and the BMW name brand one if I had to guess Yakima makes it for BMW. I also say as the other big seller of racks is Thule and as of last year they still didn't make one for the E60's yet.

Do you mean roof rack?
Not sure if the roof bars mentioned in this thread are available to UK market but will have a look.
Out of interest, do you know if the roof bars will fit in the boot when not in use? If they do then would be good to keep them in there in case they are needed when not planned.
TIA

I've known them as roof bars. They are bars that go across the roof on the outside of the car so that you can strap large items to them or even roof boxes to carry luggage. I know the standard saloon does not have fold down seats so may pose a problem for items that are longer than the boot hence me looking at roof bars.

>Does anyone have roof bars for their 5 series saloon? What's the make and brand?
Yep..I have the standard BMW roof bars. Though I don't think they are as mechanically elegant as the old E39 design (that drops into cutouts in the roof and bolts in place) they work fine. They are easy to put on and remove, lock in place and certainly have worked well for me with with occasional use carrying a roof box.
I'm actually using them over the weekend, let me know if you need to know and I'll do the boot test to see if they will fit
