you come from the g35/350z world huh? nothing wrong with that just those measurements are only used by Volk & Works.

actually, im coming over from clublexus, and vipstylecars.

actually those measurements are from most of the jdm wheel companies. i have a set of leon hardiritts , step lip, low disk, +19 offsets waiting for a new home on my m5 once i decide on some tires.. lol

ahh would've been my next guess. only jdm companies use low/mid disk. they really don't mean anything to other companies. low disk doesn't equate to an actual measurement -- it's a made up size by the jdm wheel flks.

we (dpe, klassen, iforged, etc) use mm to measure pad height instead.

yeah your right, it really doesnt tell the buyer much about clearance.. i wish they would actually give numbers to how much caliper clearance there is.. maybe just maybe my next set of wheels wheel be hre's or dpe's.

seems to be some confusion here...
i was referring to curbing.
every wheel made has a lip over the tire bead, which is prone to curbing. a wheel with a step lip doesnt change the lip over the tire bead.
what i was getting at, its the tire size in relation to rim width which determines how easy you can curb a wheel.
if you put a wide tire on a narrow rim, the tire will hit the curb before the rim. likewise, if you put a narrow tire on a wide rim, the rim will contact the curb first.
bottom line is your tire may hit the curb first, but a dumb driver can still "curb" the wheel. Ive actually scraped up my old audi once from having it slide sideways on ice into the curb.. that awd did shit that day..lol... if you hit it hard enough, its gonna get scratched... just my 2cents

On the E60 I prefer Concave style wheels. On the E39, I prefer wheels with deeper lips.

19" - No lip or concaved looks good.
20" - Looks best with lip
21" - Looks nice with a step lip
22" - In my opinion looks good one some E60's, but its hard to find others that agree with me.
