Road hazard coverage on tires is one of those crap shoots. If you bought it and nothing happened you'd have spent $80-$100 for naught ... if you hadn't and this happened it'd be
What a dilemma ... If I had ultra-low profile tires, it'd be a no-brainer. Because unless your roads are perfect you know it's not IF but WHEN!!
Tirerack and on-line retailers also offer the coverage for a fee; Some tires come with it (Conti's I think??) . Depending on your automobile insurance policy it may also be covered under the comprehensive portion of the policy - or excluded.
If only road departments would build better roads rather than continually filling potholes over and over and over again!

My Ride: 2008 550I LOADED, all options except HUD and NV
Yeah Phi, I made sure I included the Road Hazard insurance now for both rears. When I have the fronts replaced (probably later this year when I get a chance to refinish my wheels) I'll get it for those tires too. It seems unnecessary at the time of purchase but when you need it it's a life saver. A $300 lesson learned

Yep, that seems much to be a much more feasible thing to do for the tire shop...
Dang! I was hoping for a moment that you may have found a shop who would insure my aftermarket rims, too. Then again, $19 is definitely much better than $240 - even if it that insurance doesn't cover the wheel. Guess I'll have to ask my tire shop about it next time...
Thanks for the info... and good luck with the new tire (and insurance) then!
