My Ride: 07 BMW 525i Premium Package, Xenon Lighting Package, manual Transmission. Titanium Grey, 20% Tint around the back, 70% V-Kool on front. Planned mods: Style 71 wheels with Toyo Proxy 4 tires, Sachs suspension upgrade, upgraded stereo, and many more to come.
Default

I got the Sachs shocks with Eibach springs and the ride is not too bouncy or harsh, I changed to 19" at the same time, so the overall change includes the drop and bigger wheels. Definitely the change is significant but my wife didn't say a thing about the ride quality (I didn't tell her about the lowering...). I do miss it when I hit the pot holes, but I will take this improved handling over the smoothness of the stock any time, not to mention it looks nicer with 19" lowered...
And no I can not detect a thing (in handling or comfort) after my alignment. Keep in mind this is coming from a guy with no history of lowering a car, I knew it's going to be not as smooth, but the ride quality after the change exceeds my expectation.

From what I heard the H&R gives you a more sporty ride, but at the expense of a stiffer ride compare to the progressive wound Eibach. My overall drop is 1.5" front, 1.2" rear.

That is very strange news. I drove to the wheel place with 17" OEM 530i wheels (Non-sport). I left with my 19" OEM 166s with H&R sport lowering springs. I felt very little difference. The difference was more with the wheels than with the springs.

In addition, the job should have taken approximately one hour. The tech simply needs to remove a screw found in the trunk and hood to release the entire wheel arm. They then replace the spring (remove it and put the new one on), and screw the wheel arm back in place. I watched the whole thing. It took longer for them to switch my 19" tires from my old replica 166s to the new OEM 166s (on the Hunter balancing machine).

I wonder if they knew what they were doing if it took 5 hours.

YES, please! Show full size pic of that!

I guess I'm going to go with eibach springs. HR is just too low in Cali for me. I go around parking structure with steep drops all time. Plus I'm expecting the eibachs to sag a bit and it'll be perfect. But show me pics of your HR and maybe I'll change my mind.

I think if you already have sport package and when you change the spring, the ride won't be much different.
alpinewhite, your car looks so different now compared to the last socal meeting.. good stuff!

MikeBuzzaw, I heard HR is softer compared to Eibach. I am using Eibach myself and I like it so far. Haven't got any problem with parking structure so far
