Honestly, I just did the vinyl about three weeks ago. So far it has held up perfectly. The vinyl is very high quaility and is guaranteed for like 12 years (I think). So, holding up is not an issue.

Am I truly happy? Yes and No. I love how it looks especially from a few feet away or more. Even up close, unless you know to inspect it. If you are looking at it closely, like I always do, I am not happy with it. Just being honest. I could have spent more time and removed more bubbles and wrinkles then I did. The issue is that the tackiness of the vinyl is so strong it is difficult to remove once you lay it. In fact when I removed a few pieces to redo, it left adhesive on the trim and I had to remove it before laying new vinyl.

I think thast eventually I will bite the bullet and buy the OEM trim and apply it. I don't want my $50k car to look like my Civic from college with all homemade DIY upgrades. This is a good "quick fix" to see how it looks and if you like it. If you do, then maybe a more permanent option will follow.

I currently have a 2008 535xi with the damn chrome. Would love to get them black without spending a fortune.

Is the trim easy to get off? Is there a DIY somewhere on this forum on how to remove the trim?

Yup, basically that.

I was lucky enough to have the LM2 on my car. Some pre-LCI cars have it, if they are built after a certain date. All I had to do was fire up NCSExpert and do some minor tweaks, and it was all there
