I found this guy that can program retrofits into our e60's.
My question is, he says that "We will need to update the progman to the latest version before we retrofit anything", is this true?
I dont believe him because with any module or upgrade, you dont necessarily have to have the latest progman to have a retrofit put onto your car.
I've put my ipod kit, bluetooth on my car and my CIP software is an older version.
the main reason is, he wants to charge me $250 dollars for the updated progman and the retrofit for SAT software.
Kind of fishy. I can go to the dealer and probably get it for alot cheaper, its just that dealer takes a bit and i need an appointment. (can't take off work for now).

Yea, I felt it was BS too for that retrofit software..
He also cleared the error message i got, and was going to charge $75 for the clearing. I only had $45, so he took that. Talk about negotiating prices.. LOL.

That happens to me once in a while too.
I'm not sure what you can do to fix it. Did you fix your airbag malfunction? I had a huge error and the module needed to be replaced. It was because of the recall. *shrug*.

A kind of "yes" and "no" .
To be able to update/code some options it is nessecery to update the cars software to the current PROGMAN Version , etc. if the CAS , LM , CCC , M-ASK have to be coded ( I-Pod , TV , CD-Changer , AHL , Logic7, HUD etc. ) , but to "clear" a mailfunctions message etc. Air-Bag , ABS , DTC it is not nessecery !
Hope this clarifyes it a bit.
