Does anyone know if the rear side sunblinds can be retrofitted without changing the door panel?

I really regret not asking for these and if the price is ok i would like to add them to my car

tnx

good thing you asked...I'm wondering the same, my 02 x5 has them and it definately adds extra privacy. If you have tint then it really makes it look dark from the outside. Are the shades just for the rear passenger door windows or is there one also for the rear window? and is it electronically controlled on the rear?

The rear window shade is electric. The rear door shades are manual. I'm not sure whether or not you can retrofit them but I don't see why not -- at least for the door shades.

Adding the electric rear shade may be tricky because the wiring may not exist in cars that weren't designed for that option. If the wiring is there, you'd have to add the switch, etc.

Here?s what I figured out;

I had to retrofit the rear shade. Because there was no original way to order, I got an orig. power rear shade from ebay and the missing parts ordered from dealer.
O.k. finaly I was successfull to bring it in the car as factory build but there is NO wireing for the shade. So I get it up and down by the power connection in the trunk and let it up all day.

To retrofit the side shade you have to buy the complete door panel because the shades are integrated and can?t set up on the old panels.
That?s no cheep thing...so tinting may be more interesting.

Edit: Guess what? Now I have pull out halve of the car now there?s a retrofitting set for a manual rear shade.

Yeah - I can understand your oppinion..

So there?s another chance but again not cheep; you may change the windows to individual black type.

Here in good (?) old germany you can get leather-interieurs from some dealers in ebay included door panels. Maybe one day there door panels with your colour and the shades.

I got my power shade for about 5 $ at "buy now". The seller might not know what he got or thought it was broken.
