Has anybody successfully retrofitted the BMW ski bag into an E60 that does not have through-load? I have looked at the parts on realoem.com and see that the ski bag is only designed for cars that have through-load. I ski and play hockey, and neither my skis nor hockey sticks fit in the trunk. I would like the little door to be able to feed these through into the cabin, but am hesitant to start cutting a hole in seat backing. Any insight / suggestions would be appreciated.

Does your rear seat have the fold-down center armrest?

Looks like the frame and even the seat cushions are different. I think it would be best to find a junked E60 with that back seat and replace yours with it.

I remember seeing a member here did cut a hole and passed it through and above the center armrest. He did a pretty clean job. I don't remember who did it though.

That's how the OEM ski-bag passes through the trunk. I'm pretty sure it was a part of the split-fold rear seat option because I have it and I wouldn't have ordered it as a stand alone option.

Not sure if the non-split rear seats have the center arm rest.

i did this on my old 545i....but i transfered the entire rear seat out of a donor 545i with the ski-pass option to make it happen. it took me about 2 or 3 hours total to make it all happen.

here is a pic of the retrofit in-progress. i never wrote up a full DIY though. sorry!

I have the non-split non-folding rear seat. I DO have the folding center arm rest\drink holder.
