Retrofit M5 heated seats with Active backrest
#1
Hi
I just got my car back today from Cartronics (Byfleet, Surrey. UK). very happy with the work carried out.
I had M5 heated seats with active backrest retrofitted to my BMW 530i. Very cool, especially when I am taking the car into bends the active backrest holds you in the seat. Very cool.
I have to thank, Mark, Phil and the rest of the crew at CARTRONICS for the time they have spent on my car. It took a total of two visits and six days to re-loom the seats and re-code the modules in the car. First vist they got the seat to function but without the active backrest and the second visit they sort it out.
Very amazed, it can be done. I had basic seat with electric tilt and height adjustment seats before. What a difference.
At the same time, they retrofit the professional nav and recoded that to my car too.
I had a ECU REMap too.

But it is definately worth it.
Before I started this retrofit, I did think was it going to work completely and was it going to be worth it. I can say it is. Now, everything is working and the seats are great.
I will post pics, soon.

Sounds like a great mod, any before and after pics ?
This is the new I-Drive selection, when the active backrest is selected.
The retro Nav Pro unit and display
This is the seat control module for the M5 Seats. My car never required a module before as it was only tilt and height adjustment, BEFORE.
Now I have the full electrics, the headrest, lumbers and etc.....
The NEW M5 centre console switch with heated seats and active backrest buttons
You can tell its not a M5 from the gear knob!!

Any chance of giving a coat breakdown - it may be a future mod.
Also, does this mean you can now retrofit electric folding M5 mirrors? And did you have any sat nav beforehand?
