alpine, you may want to go to this excellent write-up on another forum ----> http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=battery

bottom line is you *may* need to have it reprogrammed, depending on the battery type. if you go per ratherbeincabo's method, you should be good to go AND save some geen.

Brett's a republican - she's never seen a Walmart, except on TV

Brett, sorry about the bad humor, and I just wanted to concur what everyone else is saying - it is better to save $300 than to throw it away on strippers and coke for your local BMW dealer (although, I'm guessing 300 ain't much when it comes to coke and strippers - at least that's what somebody told me).

How's everything? Long time no threads from you...

What's next Brett? I sort of expected that you would get rid of your car after parting out its mods and returning to stock.

....selling my car is first but like i said the car market is so shitty right now. Im not going to get what i need out of this car to get the next one. I need to sit down and go over my financial situation. I have never thought leasing was a good idea but the way im changing my mind on cars lately it might not be a bad idea to start doing 3 year leases.

What do you think i could get for my cpo 2006 530i with 32k? No nav, no pdc, cold and premium packages. Tinted windows, slightly upgraded stereo system

i need a new battery and i called to get price quotes. 850 amp battery installed was $480. Install time they said was just over an hour. They said it had to be programmed, and that 2006 was the first year batteries needed programing. I have done some searching on the forum and have read that the whole programming issue was B.S. Anyone ever pay the dealer to do it?...if yes how does this price look?

Should i just buy a battery and do this myself? I have a friend who is a certified mechanic and could help me with something this small. Suggestions?
the dealer has to only register the battery, anything else is bs

just buy a battery from autozone and drop it or do what i did and complain so much that the dealer gives you a new one
