I know the 550 is a high performance automobile, but its also my daily driver and I drive alot, I live in Florida, so I don't need an A/S tire, but they do were better than a super performance tire like the stock conti.
I have 13000, miles on the car, the rear tire are gone and the fronts still have some life, I can either buy two new rear tires or change all four, but if I go for a new set, I'd like to get a 20,000+ mile tire.

Anyone suggestions would be appreciated

Here is a thread that I started on this exact topic in which many respected members commented: https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=86494

The life you got from your OEM summer Contis is similar to my experience with my 550i Sport. I got 12K miles out of the rears.

In terms of replacement tires, General Exclaim UHPs are known for lots of treadware. But with a M plus s rating and sidewalls that some report as a bit soft, I see them as more of a cross between a summer performance tire and an ultra high performance all season.

The king of all of the summer performance tires, the Michelin PS2 is know for a short life.

One alternative is to buy an all out summer performance tire that is less expensive. That's why I bought the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo -- a tire with stellar performance reviews by car mags, including this summer's big Car and Driver tire comparo. Plus at $185 per rear tire from Tirerack (as opposed to about $400 per rear tire for the PS2), it's a sick value.

But if long tire life is priority one, get the General Exclaim UHPs. Many members here have them and swear by them.

You have to love this forum, I really appreciate your reply, you have given me much to think about, the only other consideration I have to address is that I lease my cars, I would hate to put 3 sets of tires on this car in 36 months hence my need for better tread life. Thanks again

No prob. I lease my 550 as well. If you want to change tires less, the Generals might be for you. For me, I did not want to sacrafice max summer performance but did not want to spend $400 per tire for new tires. Hence the Hankooks were perfect for my needs.

I read your thread and checked out the Car and driver tire review, but have not seen many 550 owners that have gone wit the General's,

A number of respected NYC area member have the General Exclaims and like them including brabusw209amg, melimel and rich (I am forgetting his user name but he runs the twisties at full tilt with the Exclaims).

If you use the search function and put in "Exclaim", you will see that a lot of our members use them and like them.

Got the Michelin Pilot Sport Plus A/S about 6000 miles ago.

Perfect for my commute and daily driving needs...even in an all dry climate

chose these largely due to extreme mileage potential..so far so good

Doesnt handle as quite as crisply as the stock conti's, nor have as great road feel ....but the car still drives like hell
