I assume it has to do with reprogramming your car's computer, but what exactly does it do?

Does this affect you car's warranty at all?

What is the horsepower gain and torque gain?

These questions would be based on an 06 550i.

Can someone break it down for me??

Its where they re-programme your engine management unit to get the max power out of the engine. It will give improved performance but the longevity of the engine will be affected. Also BMW may be able to detect the work has been done from I drive which may invalidate the warranty - but don't quote me on that

The power gain on a 550 would be about 15% thats my guess.

If BMW find out then technically, yes.

Works best with turbo-charged engines. But 10% can be gained... (25% for turbo's)

Too new to tell I guess... Although, it won't be long! Hasn't it got enough power for you already???

For more info try this link:

Also other links on warranty / detection concerns.

For BMW petrol engines you're looking at no more than 10% HP increase, if that.
