I searched the threads -- looks like most of the remap info is a bit dated (circa 2005).

I did the Dinan chipping with my M3. What's the most popular remapping approach for the E60s?

It would be helpful to have info consolidated re:
Companies
HP Gain
Torque Gain
Dyno validation charts
ECU re-update guarantee

And personal stories re: your own experience with your remap.

Does this sound like a good idea?

This thread probably belongs in the mods, accessories, thread. Can someone help move (can't seem to do it with the options tab).
Cheers

Superchips is a popular one among the petrol E60's. DMS is popular among the E60 diesels.

As for others, there's also Powerchip.

Ask vegastrashed. He did the Superchips remap. I'm about to do mine as well. I'm going to go through Singh Autosport for mine. They charge $500 (not including shipping via Fed Ex). They're based in Northern California. I called 3 companies and these guys were the cheapest and all of them reported similar gains. I believe vegastrashed did his through Singh Autosport as well.

Singh Autosport also supplies 2 FREE re-flashes, should the dealer flash your ECU during a routine check-up.

Thanks C's Bimmer. Do you have Dino info for these remaps?
Only 2 reflashes? Is there an option for lifetime flashes or another company that provides this type of service?
Thanks!

Does the remap (other than through Dinan) void the BMW warranty? Or does BMW look at the vehicle in any other way than a regular stock vehicle?

The companies have info on their own respective remaps, but who knows if that's just a hype to sell more of their product. The only true test would be for you to do the test yourself, before and after the remap. I haven't heard of any companies that do lifetime reflashes for free.

I probably wouldn't tell your dealership that you have an aftermarket remap, as that would probably void your warranty.

usually a company would charge about $50 or so for a remap if the dealer wipes out the ECU. i got my chip for the same price C mentioned but i only get 1 free remap i believe... at least i hope so haha.

In addition to my former 545i, I've also remapped my MB E63 AMG with Superchips. I'm a firm believer in remapping the ECU.

Is there anybody who went the Dinan route? What are your experiences (daily driving/performance driving) with the Dinan remapping -- and for those who went other routes -- same question -- how does she drive post-remapping?

Any difference in petro/diesel consumption?
Transmission shift points -- still smooth?
With remap does your car now 'hi rev' to shift? Or, does it continue to 'adapt' to different modes of driving (e.g. standard driving around town vs. performance driving).
Noticeable increases in HP and torque?

Thanks!
