Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if I can use a regular SPDT relay in reverse?

I'm referring to on a relay, 30 comes from the power, and 87a is normally closed and connected to the power. Once you activate the switch (85) on the relay, 87 gets power and 87a's power is cut off.

Can I make two power sources go into one 87a and the other one in 87? And when I activate the switch (85), 30 will now get power, but it will alternate sources.

Here is a quick drawing. Sorry for the crude / sloppyness... My handwriting is worst.

A mechanical relay is nothing but a switch. There is no direction to it. As long as you have the coil that switches the relay correctly you can putting any connections across the pins.

Hey I don't really know much about the relay but still learning. Since nigxdoof is asking about something I might as well ask too heh since its about the relay. I wanted to ask if you wanted to wire it normally with leds how would it be wired? For instant I wanted to wire 2 different LED one color for 87 and the other for 87a, what do I connect the 30 85 86? would 30 and 86 connect to a 12v output and the switch I just add a on and off switch? Any help would be great thanks, sorry for posting this here nigxdoof too lazy to make my own thread

You need to connect 12V through a switch to 85 and 86, so that when you press the switch the relay will work. Then connect a direct 12V to the 30 and connect the two LEDs to 87 and 87a. So what will happen is when the switch is OFF the LED connected to 87a will light but when you press the switch the 87 will light.

K cool the only confused part is the 12v so lets just say for example I'm getting the 12v power from the light in the dome, i connect the power to the 30 and also have another power wire connected to the 85 and ground to 86 from the same dome power i used for 30 is that how it goes?
thanks for the help and explanation bruce.
