So I have 42k on my n52 engine 530i adn the more I read, the more it sounded changin plugs at 100k was a little ridiculous. Then I did more reading and truly they do make plugs that last that long BUT it does not mean they are functioning at 100 percent that long. The more I ready is by 40k miles they are likely 60 percent efficient as they were and by 100 they are approaching death.

So while the casual driver who never guns the engine may never notice this, if you are an enthuisiast who wants the most performance and smoothness out of your engine regardless of if you have 258hp or 360 hp-we all want the most we can get out of what we have.

I decided this was a good thing to do. Dealer is charging me 360 including parts. Frankly I looked at the DIY and I have none of the tools and honestly not the know how. I talked to an indie who charges 250 but does not give loaners etc. My car is there for a few days anyway so between bein convenient and trusting the dealer I am getting it done. Especially after this pictures I saw of a guys sparks at 60k

I posted a similar thread about 8 months ago (changed mine at 40K miles). It was one of the best "mods" that I've done

What spark plugs did you use on your 550i?

I also made a post about this as well a few months back. A local shop actually pulled out my plugs and popped in the Iridium NGK's into my 530i for like $80 labor. Everything went great. It was one of the best mods I ever did! The difference in performance was immediately noticeable.

Bosch (stock) but NGK works as well.

I am confused that you list that you have the sport package and yet you had chrome trim and had to change it to matte black. My understanding is shadowline is standard on sport packages?

Also assuming you did have the sport package, was it with ARS? and if so why did you go with all the suspension parts-what kind of difference is there?

I find my sport suspension in a pretty light 530 weighing 3500 pounds with some lightweight tires in 19's pretty much can handle any feasible maneuver with ease in my driving. I do not track-that would be a different story.

So those who changed it-did you notice quite a bit of power gain or torque back or smoothness or what?

Its a joke. Read the sig a little closer. It is a NON-sport. I added all the "sport" exterior looks to it. My spork package.

I really need to change mine, anyone have a link to which ones I need? I have a 04 525, can I get them at autozone? Anyone got a link to the thread? Should a newbie like me attempt this mod?

Supposedly, it doesn't matter what kind of plugs you use. At least, that was the answer I got when I asked about the Pulstars.
