Glad you chose the Hankooks...the General are actually all-season UHP tires, and the tread pattern would have really clashed with the front Conti's.

The Hankook's also have a more similar pattern to the Conti's and are true hi-performance Summer tires.

Very surprised that more people aren't talking about the Sumitomo HTR Z III's. The reviews on Tirerack are awesome and I've read about many M3 and Porsche owners switching from PS2s and never going back. Interesting that not many E60 owners are trying them. I definitely plan to

Thank you Oh God of Information. All Praise To Thee!

You have much to learn young padawan..

Glad everyone got that off their chest..

Anyways thanks for the topic OP, I'm sure a number of members have or will have considered these tires and this thread may help them decide accordingly.

he's not a god...he's a "jedi"

Scott...put this thread to rest and just order the tires already so you can start another thread about your review of them (glad to see you are going with the one's I threw into the mix)
Done Gene. I ordered the 2 rear Hankooks this morning from Tire Rack. $401 shipped plus 4 percent back from Mr. Rebates.

Thanks Gene for altering me to the Hankooks. That lead me to review their reviews. I hope that their performance lives up to their stellar reviews. Thanks Frank for the Mr. Rebates tip.

I have 4/32 of an inch left on my front summer Contis so I expect to replace them about June-July of 2010. I will be putting on my winter eset in mid November which will give me time to review the rear Hankooks.

Yesterday I swapped out the shot OEM rear Contis for the Hankooks. I went to 106th Street Tire in Queens (thanks member brabusw209amg for the recommendation) for the mount and blanace.

My initial impression of the Hankooks is that they are quieter than the Contis and feel grippy. I'll write a review once they are on for enough time for me to flog them nicely.

No Mel I did not get the wheel and tire insurance. I got it on my 540i Sport and never used it. My OEM Contis on the 550 were incredibly resistant to bubbling. They ran over a number of potholes that I thought would put a bubble in them, but didn't.

I'm up for a mini meet at any time. Looking forward to hearing the 550 RPI exhaust in action.
