I'm sure this has been covered before but I can't seem to find it with a search.

I have wanted rear fog lights in US BMWs since forever. Last year I moved to the Pacific NW and fog is a real concern here. So I'm back on my quest.

I've seen the easy mod to get rear fogs on the E90's. The mod requires replaceing the switch assy with the EU version that has the rear fog switch. Has anyone done this with the E60? I'm willing to try it if no one has but would need to get the part number for the light switch for a 2007 Non-LCI E60 with Xenon and HUD. RealOEM shows 6131695253. Has anyone done this already?

Its not as easy as replacing the switch panel only. You need to get the LCM reprogrammed as well because where we have the fogs you have the BFD.

The E90 also has BFD. In the E90 the BFD works when the rear fog light is not active. So, in that case, the car has BFD and no reprogramming is needed. Seems logical that the E60 would be similar, no? If no one has done this I'll be happy to give it a go if I can get the part number confirmed. Ideally, I wouldn't be the guinea pig

Try it and see. Your part number is right. It may just work. If all the LCM is doing is waiting for rear fog light CAN-ID on the bus then it should work.

You can have mine.

It is snowy, foggy and rainy here all of the time. I have never needed rear fog lamps. Or even front fog lamps for that matter.

Thanks, while I haven't needed the rear fogs, I do want them. I've had near misses and I can't help but think that one day the near miss will be a hit. It's more of insurance than anything.

I have them on the Land Rover and I just don't understant why BMW NA doesn't add them. Ignorance of a few users isn't an excuse since MB, Audi, and Land Rover has it. Land Rover had it in the US even when they were owned by BMW.

Looks like I'm out of luck unless someone has a source for EU parts. The part I need to try this is not available for order in the US.

Since I am originally from Seattle, I will bite.

What part (PN) do you need?
