For me, I prefer the taking the tradeoff of some increased false alarms (though I don't seem to get that many using advanced logic mode) if the unit will give me the additional (and critical) information on where the threat is. I with you on this one Rudy. I really like the arrows and the counter. The Bogey counter has also saved me when driving in an area with lots of "false" alarms. I was driving through an area that normally had 5 bogey's and then one day there were 6 bogey's and a state trooper sitting just down the street. Having the counter save my @$$ on that day

I think that you are correct. I personally don't find the bogey counter on the V1 very useful, but others like it, and I'm OK with that. The only thing that the X50 doesn't have, compared to the V1, appears to be the directionals. I cannot think of a situation that I've been in for the past 4 years of using the V1 where the directionals were absolutely (absolutely) necessary, even if I liked having them, which I did- I slow down either way. I am willing to give up the directionals for a unit that doesn't have as many false alarms, and that has a real automute feature. This is a personal preference that others may not agree with, and that's OK. Objectively, given the state of the art for the two detectors, I think that this debate boils down to personal taste as opposed to quality. It's simply not as black and white a decision as it used to be, which is actually nice. Consumers now have at least two excellent detectors to choose from. I think that this is the most balanced way to look at it.

I agree on the personal preferences being the most distinguishable differences I see. What kind of power interface is the escort? For instance the V1 uses the 4 wire telephone cable. From their web site it does not look like I could use my ?temp? install which is telephone cable into the foot well power plug via V1 adapter in the 6er. In another car the so called hard wire might work. I like my V1 but do have to get another detector as I just do not have the patience to switch it to another car when I drive something else. May as well try something new. Plus I can do my own side by side compare first.

I hardwired it using their own cable made for this purpose (cost $10.00 extra- it's on the Escort Radar site). It has a phone connector on one end, which plugs into the detector (as I recall it has 2 contacts as opposed to 4), with an attached fuse. It was a very easy install (essentially the same procedure as for the V1).

Has anyone heard of the Calibre system? My uncle got it and siad that there are two transmitters one in the front and one int he back that work on bluetooth technology. supposed to be the best avalible.

Hadn't heard of it until now...it looks like it's made by the company that makes the K40 detector.

I have the X50 as well and love it. It has saved me many times. Every piece of literature I could find shows the sensitivity is as good as the V1.
