The last line where it talks about the differential says that this is a Limited Slip Differential but I think you guys were discussing if this was a misprint. http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=34668

Yes Euro, I have read the thread ... But the problem is that in 545i page there is the OPEN diff, @$2000 : on the site there is nothing about LSD diff price .
I have understood that the price will be around $2k (imho 2500), but I would like to be sure ...

why not 3.46?
from a technical standpoint it's the equivalent setup you're thinking about. 645i auto (3.46) = .2 sec faster than 545 i auto...(other factors equal: wheels, gear ratios)

Quality is the same, my dear Andy : the parts are always ring and pinion, but the prices are ?1900 and ?380 .
Differentials : 645ci 3.23 at the dealer : ?1500, RD ?2800 .
LOL!
From 3.38 to 3.46 is useless : remap and make the exhaust!
