I know a few folks have installed one of these. I have the M Tech bumper. The company says the factory grill does not need to be removed to install theirs. Does it look o.k. not removing the factory grill first? Can you still install their grill and remove the factory grille?

Here's a picture of the mesh from www.racemeshgrilles.com on Freed0m's car. You don't have to remove the factory grille.

It looks really good I have just fitted one and your car being black like mine, the mesh grill gives it definition whereas the black plastic one looks lost, I am sure many people will think we are hethans for fitting them but thats life. I have matched mine up with chrome kidney grills and the overall look is very pleasing. You do not need to take the original grill out, this is the same question I asked of Michael at Racemesh, you simply fit it over the existing lower grill. The workmanship this company produces is excellent. My advice is to offer the grill up to the existing opening then look for where the grill is not an interference fit with the bodywork then ease the rubber surround out so when you finally push it in it is complete interference fit with the body work. The whole job takes about 20 minutes. You wont regret it.

It should look like this ( I knows its an M5 but you will get the idea).....................

Thanks EuroCarFan and Jagman. I'm convinced and am gonna order it - black powder coat. So Jagman, from your description it sounds like it is a "pressure fit" that holds it in, correct? Is there rubber around the edge that holds it in place?

I'm thinking about doing the same Dinan engine upgrades to my ride as you did. The airbox isn't available yet. And, given I have a stick not sure the software will be noticeable. Do you like the exhaust? Would you do the upgrades again?

I love the sound of the Dinan exhaust...very sporty with a deep mellow tone instead of being too loud and obnoxious.

I know that Dinan is working on the software for the 550 6sp; they used a car from a forum member here (Roleez) as a test bed.

And yes, I would definitely do their upgrades again.

It's two things that hold it in place (1) the pressure fit and (2) there are plastic ties ( supplied by RaceMesh) both are important, you will find that it is easy to attach the ties to the center of the existing grill but as you get to the outsides there are no areas left to as the original grill is a solid moulding with no holes to attach to, so you will need these areas to be interference fits . This is how I did it and it works fine.
