I bought front and rear R1 concept rotors about 2 months ago. While the front rotors are okay, the rears are starting to rust around the center and in the recesses of the drilled holes and slots. Is this normal?? The fronts are still all silver but the only thing silver on the rear rotors are the pad contact areas.

Hi,
Another customer just PM'd me about this the other day. R1 concept rotors have zinc protecting the hub portion but the face is going to rust. I'm assuming this is after a car wash and you left your car in your garage/driveway? Yes, they will rust THAT fast. What I suggest is, as soon as your car is washed, drive it around so there is no water left on the rotors. You didn't really notice this on OE rotors because the face wasn't drilled/slotted. Let me know. For what it's worth, my Porsche BBKs have the same problem: the face is fine, but the holes have rust. Michael Acute Performance |
Actually the hub part of the rear rotors are rusting (what I meant with around the center)...However, the front rotors are not rusting at all. It's as if the fronts got the zinc treatment but the rears didn't.

Can you take a picture?

No matter what ALL rotors rust a little, even OEM, relax and try not to be so OCD about it
