Question

My car is in for some warranty work right now and I asked my SA for a price to install the E60 iPod interface. Got a call last night and they want over $680, roughly $350 for the part and $330 for the install. Any one got anything I can use to go back and get a better price?
Thanks

My dealer told me $299 for the kit, and thats before I asked for 10% off. He always gives me 10% off.

I just installed mine last night - it was so easy! I would not pay to have it installed. It literally took me 15 min. On my 2006 550, it was completely plug and play, no coding required, so I assume your 2007 would be the same.

The part retails for $299. Give BMW of Newport (see post in parts forum) a call. I got mine for less. I was quoted 1 to 2 hours for the install. It took me about an hour. I could do it in less time now that I know what I'm doing. I still needed to have my car programed since I didn't have the CD Changer so my dealer charges one hour to program even though my car was in for a recall that already required the CIP update anyway. All in all I paid about $360ish for the whole thing - doing the physical install myself.

I just paid $458 -- $270 for the iPod interface kit ($299.99 MSRP less 10% BMW CCA discount) plus 1-1/2 hours of labor for installation (@$125 per hour), which seems fairly reasonable.

I just installed mine yesterday and it was not a pleasant experience. At first CID just shown BMW logo and nothing happened, and I found out that iPod was connected during installation (I don't know if that's the case). I then disconnected neg battery cable and reconnect the kit w/o iPod connected. I-Drive booted up with lawyer screen in German Oops then back to CID screen. Connected the iPod and it works like a charm. Dawn it!
I did not mount iPod adapter upside down using wire tie, but use leather double-side tape to mount it right side up. Looks fine.

To install Ipod adapter you have to disconnect CD changer and use connector connceted to CD changer connect to iPod adapter.
