I drive a 545i 6-speed.

I did a lot of searches but couldn't find exactly what I want. Some complains droning, some complains too loud, some complains too quiet. I am looking for an exhaust that is just as quiet as stock and all the way to approx 3500 rpm but when i floor it, i would like it to sound like a V8.

I dunno why but every V8 I have ever bought sounds so quiet. I like the quietness but it is a little TOO quiet. My CLK55 AMG was super quiet but definitely a lot louder when I floor it. I can barely hear the exhaust on this 545i. Still missed the HKS titanium exhaust on my Evo...

sounds like we're on the same boat. i tried the magnaflow it sounds very nice and deep for the 545i, but the drone from 1.5k to 2k rpm is too loud for my virgin ears. I am too use to the quietness of the cabin. I agree that the stock is way too quiet.. i'm going to try what the folks with the e39 540i did, they changed out their resonator with a free flowing resonator

I'm used to shifting with my ears not my eyes. Now I am almost at redline and I dont hear anything. It's good when I want quietness. I'll try this and see what happens. I cant wait.

Now I wonder if anyone has pictures of before and after the resonator removal and kept the stock mufflers. And any sound clips?

I just installed a Magnaflow muffler and I love it. I barely hear the droning until I floor it . I also drive a 1963 Impala SS with Flowmaster 40 series. Maybe thats why the droning doesn't bother me that much. The stock setup was too quiet.

Yea that might be why. The roads are relatively straight in NY.

Yes, the REMUS seems to fit the bill.
It will be drone free at cruising speeds and low RPMs but the tone will definately change at WOT due to its straight through design.
