Hey guys...ok I know this thread is going to go off topic...Refering to the Valentine 1...I know it will catch when the gun is pointed at it ...although ive heard rumors it picks up when the gun isnt point but just while a cop is strolling thru....so if its next to you w/o the gun pointed the Valentine 1 will goo off...True? False?

yes, that is why the unit has side arrows. They will let you know if a signal is coming from a side.

Yes i understand it has arrows that point from which direction the bogey is coming from although i wanted to know if it is true that the Valentine 1 will go off if a cop is near by although does not have his gun out but is just strolling by...will the Valentine 1 notice the cop with out the cop using his gun?

The answer is usually no for handheld units which have a trigger on/off function. Car mounted radar is usually, not always, on all the time if its in use. Bottom line, detector is not a guarantee against tickets, especially with the growth of laser use among police. Detector is pretty much useless as a defense against laser.

Yeap, I just got a laser ticket and am strongly considering the lidatek.

My Valentine One has saved me at least 5x it's cost in tickets I didn't get. It's the greatest thing ever.

Although a trippy thing happened the other day. The cops set up one of those trailers with the speed display on it. They usually do this to set up the road so they can legally use radar on the street (this is in Cali). Anyway, I was driving by it and my V1 didn't go off.....at all. I was like WTF!? I literally turned around to drive by it again and nothing. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, nothing. Yet it has worked before and after for cops all over the place.

I wonder if the cops came out with a new type of radar or something.

PS - My V1 was purchased less than a year ago so it pretty much has the latest software updates.

V1 would only wake up under those circumstances if the ossifer's unit was emitting a low power signal. If there is no signal, no picky uppy.

Mine does too with every other one I've ever seen. But this one showed nothing. And it was right by my house so I drove by it every day for over a week and nothing each time. It would display my exact speed with no other cars around. :bashwall:
