First of all i love your car. It looks lie your i drive screen is a tv/backup camera. How did you do this. I thought the colors on the screen were very poor but yours look like they are a comp0uter monitor? Also how much did it cost?
Hi Justin,
I did not change the screen at all. It's the original i-Drive screen. To achieve both TV and backup camera, here are what we need to do:
Buy this module:
I bought exactly the same unit at navwithtv for $500
This unit has LVDS input from MASK/CCC, and output to i-Drive monitor.
Also, there are three RCA video inputs - V1, V2 and V3. V2 is exclusively for back-up cam because this is triggered by back-up voltage from rear back-up lamp at 12V.
My back-up cam Kenwood CCD can be bought from cardomain.com or crutchfield for $200.
It took me two days to rerun speaker wires (front/rear/sub), i-Driver interface unit, back-up cam, center overhead LCD, and M5 SMG paddle shifts.
I had to rip all interior apart including front/rear seats, center console, center dash console, front door panels, rear panels, glovebox, etc. you name it. If you saw my car at the time, you'd think that you're walking in a car junk yard
The color of the screen is very good. The only thing you can use that screen is hooking it up to a mini mac computer which is very blurred.
Please let me know if you have any more question.
Best Regards

for orders mail this guy:
don't try to call because their english is very very bad, but if you mail them, the english is good
Name: Kim, Mi-Ri
euronavisystem@kornet.net
Just ask for the "E60 interface module"
http://euronavi.co.kr/
Price of one unit is 199 USD he ships world-wide. The quality is very good of this interface, its housing is in aluminium, so there is no interferance, you will recieve a remote control with the unit

Is possible to conect a mac to the iDrive screen?can we conect an iPod too?very interesting this interface...
In other things,we are talking about buying some of your kits ;-)

Best Regards too!
Hi Gorki,
It's possible to connect mini Mac to i-Drive screen via the i-drive interface, but it's very very blur. YOu can barely see. The output of mini Mac is DVI, and you need DVI-to-RCA adapter from Mac to convert it to RCA output for i-Drive interface input. When convert DVI to RCA, the quality is degraded significantly. That was why I did not do it.
Another problem is power up and down. You need to buy voltage regulator and car power on/shut down module from mp3car.com to turn your mac on/off everytime you turn on/off your car. If not, your mac will be short lived.
For i-Pod, it cannot be shown on i-Drive screen. The signal to the i-Pod screen needs to be translated to RCA to feed it into i-Drive interface. No one dare do it yet. If I have time, I can do it, but you still need to control the ipod through ipod wheel anyway. And it makes no sense to show it on i-drive screen. The best way and use mini Mac. Try to change the screen resolution to 640x480. It might help a bit.
About my kit, please PM me.
Best Regards

Some great info!
I'm interested in this kit for the backup camera purposes. If I purchase this unit, is it a simple plug-n-playin to the back of the navi screen? So the V2input gets triggered once you put the car in R? Where did you keep the unit once completed?
Also, where is your CCD camera positioned? How did you mount it?
Thanks,
Ben

The result is very rewarding and it's far superior the PDC which you might found it was too late that you're alrady hit the curb and damage your M-kit bumper. Humans learn and act best with visual aid - real pics.
Any question, please let me know. My pleasure to contribute my E60 knowledge to all E60 owners.
Best Regards
