My Ride: Black/Black 2004 530i w/ Premium & Sport Pkgs.
I bought the AUX Audio parts kit & installed them myself today following the instruction sheet posted on E60 forums below.
http://forums.e60.net/index.php?act=attach...st&id=10898
On page 6 it talks about disconnecting the wires from branch A2 that came with the AUX kit and connect them to plug x13813. Does this only apply if your car is currently equiped w/ navigation? My car is an '04 530i (mfg 02/04) and doesn't have navigation nor did it have an existing connector in plug x13812. I just plugged the A2 pigtail as-in into the x13812 jack & re-assembled the car.
When I turned the car back on the Entertainment menu did not show AUX yet. I assume that the only remaining item is to take the car to a dealership to have them load the appropriate software?
Please confirm that I did this correctly. I'd hate to go the the dealership and have them dis-assemble the car to correct any mistake I may have made.
Thanks,
Kuchar

Just to close the loop on this for the future benefit of other DIYers, here is what happened:
I took the car to the dealership and they programmed the car for the AUX input in about 2 1/2 hours & it cost me $247 & change.
I still had no audio, but AUX was showing up on the iDrive.
When I got home I had to disassemble the dash and re-map the pins for the adapter per page 6 of the instruction sheet referenced above. I assumed that this step wasn?t necessary since I did not have anything currently connected to the plug referenced.
Once I reassembled the car & connected the battery I was good to go, great sound in the car!!! PM w/ any follow-up questions.
