Hello,

A local dealer in my area has two used wheels for sale, one is HRE Comp21 and the other is iForged Fabulous. Both are 20 inches, and polished finish. According to the sale representative, these wheels are used and have been driven for about a year or so. And they both were custom made for the 5 series e60. The price for the HRE is $4750, and $2950 for the iForged. Free falcon tires are included in the sale.

Can you guys tell me whether these wheels are overpriced? which one is a better deal? I've heard that one can inherit a bunch of problems from used wheels, is this true?. Will there be any problem with the vibration and such? How long do these wheel actually last? Your input would be really appreciated. Thanks,

Carlos

Hi Carlos

20" iForged I sell for ~$800 brand new.
20" HRE C21 I sell for ~$1500 brand new.

These are per wheel costs. The HRE C21 is no longer on my price sheet so it might be discontinued. I quoted you the HRE C20 price.

Falken tires complete set of 20" goes for ~$750-800.

So no you're not getting a good deal IMHO. What's your budget for new rims? I might be able to help you out w/ some DPEs.

Wait... Do you mean two used sets of wheels? My reading comprehension sucks. If the wheels are in good shape then it could be a good deal.

The only way to know for sure, is to have somebody check the wheels for cracks or bends....Be careful when buying used...Ask them if you could have them checked, or if you buy them and one is defective if they will give your money back...

I was told the HRE is 20 x 9 and 20 x 10, the iForged is 20 x 9 and 20 x 10.5.

I dont think I know anyone to help me check for bending/crack...cracks are usually appears on the outside right? Do I need to remove the tires to see whether there are cracks? how do I chck for bending?

The least you can do is take the wheels to a tire shop. They can throw it up on their machine and see if it's bent.

Hey Carlos,

I am in the same shoe as you...not sure what to check for when buying used wheels. I am buying used iForged Fabulous from a member of this forum. a little bit more expensive than what you got offered but I think he is well trusted. GL man.
