Question about Mp3 cds
so since i got my car i been searching for a dension ipod kit for the right price but so far ive been unable to find one. So yesterday i decided I'd go give our good friends john and leo @motorcepts a visit and get my car code for mp3 cd playback( on a side note that place is awesome and a very friendly environment it was like bmw nirvana in there so many modded cars and what not) but anyway john somehow coded my 04 530i to actually playback the mp3 disk on my nav-idrive unit and add a few over nice codes for me as well. amazing and they said it can't be done on 04s lol. I had burned a test mp3 cd with itunes and it worked wonderfully but i don't really like the lack of organization so i went home and structured some mp3s in a few different folders labeled and everything and burned them as a data cd on windows by right clicking on the folder and hitting send to cd. I know the cd was burned successfully because i tested it on the pc and all the folders and files were there but when i brought it over to the car.... nada zip ziltch nothing. So I want to know can the first idrive nav units play folder style mp3 disk and also if it can how are you burning them to the disk?

I don't think burning the files will work just in a folder. The last time I burned a mp3 CD you had to do a special option in the burning program. MP3's cd's use disk space as the measure for how much you can fit on (700mb) while regular cd's can only go up to a certain amount of time, like 50 minutes worth of tracks.
