That's a good price! I couldn't find it for the 545i. Are they the same? Also, it mentions this does not include the installation kit. I wonder how much that costs. At that price, I would be interested. Nice find OP!

$750 is a great price. With seals, you'll probably still be under or around $850. Not bad.

I was at my local bmw dealership and they could install the differential in 7-8 hrs worth of labor. They labor rate is $137 an hour. $1096 for labor plus tax.

I'm sure this 550i (Mfg Part# QDF16R ECSpart# 248528) is compatible with 545i auto.
Anybody has any information/recommendation on this Quaife differential install? is 3.38 final drive for auto OK?

Miguex? AlexFW?Anyone? Thanks.

oh man is this ever tempting, the unit for the m54 e60 is $630, if only install wasn't so labour intensive.

A good differential service shop can do it in less than 4 hours, and that includes dismounting and mounting the differential.
I was billed $400. Ensure that you have the seals (stub axle) and 2 plugs or O-rings (fill and drain) and your preferred fluid (I chose Redline 75W-90).
This is the best mod that I've done.

The following part (with part number) was installed in my 2007 550i, so it should work for you as well:

33-928-336 Quaife ATB LSD
