I am considering installation of a quad system but hope that guys who have done so can answer the following:

1. When cutting the lower right rear apron to match the existing left side, can they add the turned-in lip to the apron so that both sides are alike?

2. Can anyone recommend a shop in New Jersey that has expertise at this?

3. I want a low pitched rumbling sound; am not anxious to be heard a mile away. What?s good?

4. And lastly: My dealer says that even though I will have put additional cost in the car via an exhaust mod, the ultimate resale value will be decreased because used car buyers associate the mod with brutal driving habits. He says the same thing about aftermarket wheels. Any opinions?

Many thanks,
Art

Question 1: What do you mean by turned-un Lip?

Question 2: I'm not sure

Question 3: The only available Quad exhaust for E60 are Eisenmann and Hamann.

Question 4: Definitely, it will not decrease the resale value for your car. I have a friend that mods his M3 pretty much and sold 62k for it, used for only 4000 miles. Just make sure you sell it private and not to the dealer.

I hope all these help your doubts..

Thanks for the response.

When cutting the right side lower apron to accomodate the added exhaust pipes, the edges of the cut portion are just that: edges about one eighth of an inch thick.

The left side, where the stock pipes fit, does not have the sharp edge of the lower apron exposed around the pipes. It has a surface at 90 degrees to where the edge would be. It's about 2 inches long and goes toward the front of the car. That's the "turned-in lip" that I am referring to.

I still don't get it .. i'm sorry

Maybe a picture may help but the other time when i cut the right side of the apron the bodyshop did a pretty gd job for me.

Maybe Choi001 (I can't really rem his username but he has the quad exhaust on his car too) is able to help you.. Good luck

The Remus is not a quad, but is an easily reversed, low rumble solution that seems to meet most of your objectives and concerns.

Soc_fans,

Here is a picture of what Bigartk is triing to explain.

Quad exhaust question-ex_turnin.jpg

You can see that the bumper turns in back up towards the front of the car, and would want this on the other side as well if he were to put in a quad exhaust. Not just have the cut ends showing.

I think that the only way to get this for the quad side, is to have someone add these on after and then smooth them out, or have a new lower bumper section.

Oh.. Haha earlier i was guessing that it was that part too because that was my dilemma as well when i was thinking to get the quad.

Well, yeah i agree if the hole is there, it looks pretty ugly. That is one of the reason why i bought the hamann rear lip and diffuser.. i will post it up the pics soon..

Right!! The picture is exactly what I am referring to. Anyone know of the lower apron for an M5 can be purchased yet? Gimme a best guess as to cost?
Thanks,
Art

I would post something...there are some of us that just want the front bumper and not the rear for the M5. If you just want the rear, I'm sure someone will work something out by splitting the M5 aero package.
