Here's something I recently did works like a charm too.

1. Added buttons to the back of the steering wheel
2. Modded the coil spring to get 2 extra pins that will allow for the extra connection through the steering wheel
3. Plug and Play hookup making for an easy installation

Now I have "paddleshifters" in the form of simple push buttons on the OEM steering wheel.

but you must have still used a wiring harness to the connecters on your steptronic gearbox?
all it seems to me that has occured is you have just used your OEM steerting wheel, the rest is the same as retro fit paddle shift

but 10/10 for doing your own thing, well done.
those buttons are way to small for my sausage fingers.

The buttons are perfectly placed and are bigger as they look on the pic If you have sausage fingers the buttons would be even better

Here's a pic of the adapter I made to tap into the wires where the shift knob is located.

No time lag at all. it's like using the shifter itself.. oh did i mention that i retained my heated steering wheel option as well haven't quite figured out the exact cost of everything

that really depends... do you want to switch your old steering wheel with one that has paddles or just retro your existing wheel with the buttons like i did? do you want to use your existing coil spring or get one that can be replaced? do you have a heated steering wheel?
