Thanks guys,
Im about to purchase the 166's in 19" but I need to know if any mods or anything needs to be done when I put them on. Or are they a direct fit just a bolt on application. I have a 07 525I w/o sports package so I need to know what tire size to get also.

Thanks ALI

No mods required ... but the front wheel will stick out a bit farther than your stock wheel, and the rear wheel will be inset a bit from stock. That's why some have put spacers on the rear wheels (10mm, 12mm or even 15mm).

Tire sizes are 245/35 in front and 275/30 in back. But some also run 285/30 in back.

I am interested in going for 19" 128's to replace my stock 17" ones... Are there any pros/cons on upgrading to 19" 128s?? ANy idea how much a dealer would cost, to replace the existing stock ones with these new 19" ones? Thanks!

I say you should get the 167s with the M6 offsets. That way you won't need spacers in the rear. Tire size: 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. You're going to need either springs or coilovers b/c there's going to be a huge gap between your wheel well and tire afterwards.

Pro: The car will look much better with 19"s. Con: Ride quality will suffer a little. You should PM quad_m for prices. Never buy from the dealer.

Hello there,

I purchased my 166 rims from bmwwheels.com for my 550 and I was very happy with their service. One thing to consider regarding tire size: 245/35 and 275/30 tires will keep the same diameter and thus not affect speedometer accuracy. But... these are not the sizes on the M5 and they do tend to look a little...fast and furious because the sidewall is so narrow. More importanly, I have experienced significant tramlining on my car with these profile tires (which is when your car follows grooves in the road..i.e. it moves around on the highway with a mind of its own at times). Your car rides higher and on a different suspension so it may not affect your car the same way. But consider this: I believe with a standard non-sport suspension you have the option, unlike a 545/550 sport driver, of running the M5 profile tires - 245/40 19 front and 275/35 19 rear. IMHO this setup will look a bit better and should result in less tramlining from the higher sidewall. BTW I'm running Michelin PS2s w 285/30s on the rear. Great tire but the car does not feel very planted with them on relative to my OEM 18s with snows that I have on now....

Good luck.
DRP

M5 profile tire sizes are: 255/40/19 and 285/35/19. I would not recommend he go this route b/c he will most definitely be rubbing with the front tires. The sizes, 245/40/19 and 275/35/19, you have listed will work though.

Thanks for your reply.
Yah I would be buying from him only, but probably want to get it installed at the Dealer though (since i dont have experience and dont have equipment to replace them myself).. Do I need spacers (not sure what it is though ) too? For my Silver Gray (A08), 19" 128s are the only one I think looks best. 167 are sexy tooo, but only on Black exteriors. Any other recommendations? What about the spare-tire though? When buying from quad_m, does he include the xtra spare tire too?

those are good questions cool guy, yea does anyone have a spare tire with the rim on it? Or are they just the space saver spare. What about spacers what size to get. Can you guys put pics up with your comments about the rims so that I can see what your talking about. Your car year, and model also and the specs of your rims, I.E. spacers, tires, and staggered or not.

Get the wheels from quad_m and tires from Tirerack or Discount Tires. Take all the parts to a tire shop nearby for installation. There's no need to take it to the dealership. They'll rob you blind.

Spacers is a cosmetic look that will bring out the wheels. The 128s have a rear 32 offset which means that the rear wheels are inset quite a lot. Nerwezzy has the same wheels that you are interested in. I spoke to him this weekend b/c he was interested in bringing out his wheels. I recommended 15mm. This setup will not rub b/c it's only 1mm less overall then my current setup and I'm not rubbing at all. Of course, this is with 275 tires.

167s look good on all colors not just black. I've seen it in person. You'll still have the OEM donut tire for a spare. I'm not certain if a full-size tire will fit in the spare well.
