From what I've read, it seems like the Dinan mods are very much dependent on airflow at real world speeds which cannot be replicated by most fans used for dyno testing. The large HVAC fan Dinan uses in their facility is probably the best. Perhaps do some runs against a stock car with the same tranny and see how you do.

OK, I've scheduled an appointment next Friday for a post-Dinan dyno. It's time to stop rely on my butt-dyno and get some real numbers.

This makes sense. According to Dinan, the CAI take advantage of ram-air effect so airflow is important.

Before everyone jumps on the bandwagon and start trashing Dinan, it's important to say that I'm very pleased with the result regardless of dyno number. As stated on previous thread, I could live without the CAI but highly recommend Stage3 and throttle body since they improve drivability.

I already said this to members who PMed me for advice, "Do Stage3 + throttle body, skip the CAI".

i dont want to start trashing dinan, but the problem is that dinan, AND their dealers are promising gains, and not necessarily subtle ones either, i belive that for the cai, dinan charges 999.00 for the intake and shows 3 hrs labor install, which at any dealer or reputable shop will be a MINIMUM of 300-350 so that puts us at at least 1200 dollars! and for what i ask? They show an 18hp gain, and a 15 lb./ft torque gain, WOW, we trash afe on here, and others who make promises they cant keep, but not dinan? they are more expensive than anyone as far as bmw performance parts go, and no increase in power?

I have the Dinan intake on my 545i and it only gained like 2-3 hp. I'm sure with their "real world" dyno it will gain what they say it gains. I've heard that their dyno is CRAZY.
