Hi guys & girls,

Firstly i would like to thank you all for such a great site, i have spent way too many hours reading posts about stuff on my car. However there are a few questions that I would really appreciate some feedback on. I have a 530d se 2004.

1 - Reversing wing mirror tilt

Is this standard on all e60's? my mirror does not move, and i have tried moving the toggle switch on the drivers door.

2 - M5 Wing Vents

I know that some of you well against installing these vents on a non m5, but its my car and i like them, so is there a how 2 installation guide on this site? if so can someone link me to it as i have searched and cant find one. (by the way i wont be using the M5 stickers for these vents, just like the look)

3 - Eibach lowering springs

Has anyone fitted the eibach sportline kit to there 5er? if so can i have some feedback? I want to drop it as much as possible (approx 50mm) without causing problems to car & also without it costing the earth. Any other recomendations would be appreciated.

4 - De chrome window edge

Is this easy to do? roughly what is the cost? again if there it a how 2 guide a link would be great.

5 - IPOD

ONLY JOKING GUYS, I THOUGHT IT WAS COMPULSORY TO ASK THE IPOD QUESTION.

Any help would be really appreciated

Hi there,

I am pretty sure that on the E60, the reverse tilt function came with the premium package or memory option. It's possible that if your car does not have either of these packages, it will not have that functionality. Again, this is based on other models so I am not 100% sure it applies to the E60.

The Eibach springs are a good setup if you want to firm up the suspension and drop the car without making it too harsh or impractical for daily use. If you are looking for maximum lowering, I suggest the H&R Race Springs. This is a more aggressive spring setup so you must be looking for a stiffer ride and maximum lowering to do these springs. I find the H&R Sports and Eibach Pro Kit to be a good compromise between performance, lowering and daily use/comfort.

I will not instruct you on how to do the M5 wing vents b/c I don't want it done....JP I am not a huge fan of the look on a non-M5 but if you must, you will need to have a shop cut the fender and install the gills. You can source the gills from BMW or we offer them in matte black. Another option is to just purchase M5 fenders.

1. The mirror tilt comes with the memory seats, if you have them and it doesn't tilt check with the dealer.

2. Unless it is a REAL M5 I wouldn't put them on, there's only so much posing I can stand, but it is your car - if you want em, get em

3. The Sportline provides more of a drop than the Prokit and a stiffer ride from waht I've read, which is why I am going with the Prokit seems more practical to me anyway.

4. I have said before, the purpose of mods is to be more unique and since almost everyone here has the shadowline trim I think I might just leave the chrome trim alone (and opt for real performance mods instead)
