Wouldn't any normal tube of grease work for something like this?
Afterall, you don't need any friction between the wheel and spacer or spacer and hub. Correctly torqued bolts are all you would need.

Thanks for the advice guys.

There is no thread where the bolts go through the spacers so I would not expect the bolts to seize.
l can however understand the possibility of rust forming between the rim & the spacer.

Can anyone suggest a good product to use to prevent? this?

It wasn't the rim and the spacer that created a problem for me...it was the spacer attached to the hub...bolts off...wheel off and those spacers were not going anywhere...it happened both times with me. With the 545 the spacers were only on for a couple weeks so it wasn't that big of an issue (although there were signs that the problem was starting already)...but with the 525 they had been on for, as I recall, 2-5 months...one was very hard to get off and the other one was a total mess and couldn't be removed without destroying it (I was quite concerned about damage to the hub too) / 525 was rears only

Just a heads-up

Take them off and lubricate them every once in a while I had H&R spacers on both my 525 and 545 (before going to different wheels) and in both cases...rust started to build up on the hub and/or behind the spacer and they became quite difficult to get off. With the 525 they had to be broken to be removed.

Will this apply to H&R spacers - I thought they were good quality items that won't rust / oxidize?

I am ordering my set from here

Can't wait.

IMU,
H&R spacers are definitely good quality parts, & they are supposed to be resistant to oxidation.
We will have to wait for Lomag to get back & tell us how his are doing, he's had them on for quite a while now.

I will definitely add some grease or something this weekend to be safe.

How wil this work with the locking wheel nut - I assume that with the change to the longer bolts then you lose the locking nut, is this correct ?

Yes you do loose the locking wheel nut.
Not that I think that nut is a real deterrent to someone who really wants your wheels.

Both of my sets of spacers were H&R...hoping my experiences were both just bad luck and rest of you don't have the same problems I did...because they really do make the car look that much nicer

Just a very thin layer with your finger.

I agree.
I always said if someone wanted your wheels...they would get them.

The best thing you can do is give them a hard time in stealing it. Meaning if it takes too long to get it, they're more than likely to pass it up. Not that they can't get it.

An the locking wheel nut is a genereic nut. Every BMW comes with the same one. Not much of a deterrent.
