My Ride: 2007 525i Sapphire Black on Black
I am looking to cut costs and improve the look of my '07 525i. It is black on black with chrome door trim - I know new wheels would really make a difference and came across L.A. Wheel & Tire who chrome OEM wheels. It is a "Chrome Exchange" and is very reasonable compared to buying new rims and rubber. But I am not sure if chromed 17" OEM's will have the opposite effect and look crappy on my car. Looking for your opinions and perhaps any pics of these installed?

Don't do it dude. Trust me. And you'll hear it from everyone else. Don't go that route. Save up some money and buy OEM 166 M5 wheels, or OEM 167 M6 wheels, or OEM 172 550i Sport wheels.
That is if you want to just go OEM.

My Ride: E60
Saw one on the road with chrome OEM's that made the car look ridiculous! I wanted to drive up next to him and ask him to stop insulting our cars!
It's ok but a bit too ghetto fabulous for me....

This forum is decidedly anti all things chrome.

My thoughts - You have one of the arguably best luxo-performance sedans in the world, from a maker with a long and distinguished pedigree of automotive greatness. In my humble opinion, blinging out one of these cars drops it to a.. base level and disrespects the heritage and history of the car.
On the other hand, it's your money and your car, I say go for it! ENVY!

That's kind of like walking into a biker bar wearing a pink skirt and ordering a cosmo, while offering to help push the stool in to the guy next to you.

i cant beleive you guys are so anti chrome, after all the USA is the "chrome capital" of the world
isnt chrome an anagram of detroit?? (only kidding fellas)
i think that a little chrome, ie: mirror trim, door handles etc looks cool, but not chrome wheels.
ps: i have a "chrome dome" so im biased

Hey, thanks to everyone for your solid advice - you have saved me from a big mistake. I will keep the originals until I find a good deal on some used or replica's.
I will remain Bling-less!
