I've heard (seen) some 5er diesels in Europe with aftermarket performance exhaust systems that sounded really good.

Here is a video clip of 530d with the exhaust done. Sounds really good IMO.

No air filter (cold air intake) modification will give you a deeper exhaust note. You'll have to change the exhaust to get that throaty sound from the exhaust on your car.

Good link, sounds better than standard.

Would be perfect if it was abit louder, but that tone was good!

There are many companies that produce exhaust systems for the 5er. Remus, Meisterschaft, Eisenmann, Borla, SuperSprint, Magnaflow, as well as BMW tuners such as AC Schnitzer, Hamann, RDSports (Racing Dynamics), Dinan. All have a different sound. Some are louder than others. I'm sure that other members of the forum will chime in to give their opinions. Personally, I like an exhaust that is quiet when cruising around and loud when a stomp on the 'go' pedal. Remus does that. However, the most popular exhaust on this forum appears to be Magnaflow. The price is very reasonable, but a little too loud for my tastes. You might like them though. Use the search bar on top of this forum for Magnaflow. Lots of members have posted video or sound clips of their aftermarket exhaust systems.
