I have seen performance chips on line for older modle BMWs that add hp/torq. Is there such a thing for curent models? Is there a way to do something to the computer to achieve more hp?

Thanks

in addition to eurobahn, eurorev also offers a chip. and evosport i believe offers powerchip.

If you decide to remap the ECU to add power to your 530, you need to get your car dyno'ed prior to the remapping. After the remapping, dyno the car again. This will show if there was any kind of gain. Don't take any vendors word about horsepower & torque gains without a before and after dyno sheet.

What is BMW's policy on chipping with its warranty?

BMW can choose to void warranty if they deem it was the cause of a problem.

What usually happens is that they overwrite the remapping accidentally. They general don't go around hunting for remapped ECUs. Vendors that remap ECUs will either charge a small fee or offer free remapping after the overwrite.

Try a search, there are a few posts about 530 upgrades...it's how i came across eurobahn. I know one member installed the chip on his 530 and was happy with the results. I mean for around $650 and 20+ bhp it's not a big price. If you look at it dollar-per-horsepower it's a better deal than a $9999 supercharger for 100bhp, but not NEARLY as fun!!! =)
