I would try K&N I believe they have a filter that fits the E60.

I don't think air filter help hp boost much. Don't waste your money unless you feel the punch after installation.

In my 330Ci there was definately a difference in the buttdyno.. The car used less fuel too. Only thing I didn't like was that I got more engine noise..

I just called K&N and unfortunately they haven't made it yet for E60.
I did some research on it and I found BMC air filter and cost you double than K&N I believed .

K&N has a replacement filter but I?m looking for an open air filter. I?ve got this mail from K&N.

I just installed a K&N replacement filter this weekend. They definitely make it for the e-60. In my other cars I would at least hear it a little. I can't in this case. Either it's a well insulated engine compartment or it could be the exhaust. Not noticeable with the butt-dyno.
Has anyone noticed that the stock filter has a foam piece attached to the paper element (first time that I've seen that).
