....but now everywhere the gas is cheap.
Anyway i have to wait for 2 more weeks for the car to arrive and i was thinking what can i do to improve it's performance?
Have a couple of questions:
1. what does a remap do to a 535d?
2. what's the difference between cip tuning and ecu remapping?
3. Is it detectable by bmw if the car is remapped? (warranty thing)
4. If i want to upgrade the cip version later, by upgrading does it erase the remapping?
5. What other mods can i work on the engine to boost it's performance but not to stress it too much? Air filters ...?
6. Does the M kit come with a lower suspension then normal?
Thank you alot. Hardly wait to see ur opinions and answers...

[/quote]Hi
I am certain most if not all the answers you're looking for will be buried away in the threads in the site - do a search and see!
Sorry, but I have made no engine mods so cannot help there, although re #6 I can confirm that the M-Tech Sport kit includes lower (and stiffer) suspension than the SE models

1. what does a remap do to a 535d?
Talking about my DMS remap (which I think they will come to you and do beleive it or not!) power up to 334bhp, torque up to 506 ft lb. On the road the difference is amazing. I've cut 0.4 seconds off my 1/4 mile time, although I'm sure that 0.6 or more is achievable.
2. what's the difference between cip tuning and ecu remapping?
What is CIP tuning? If you mean what's the difference between changing the sofware version of rest of the software and changing the engine ECU data, the two are indipendent - see question 4.
3. Is it detectable by bmw if the car is remapped? (warranty thing)
Well, they might drive it and notice it's quick! But they drive so many cars, they'll not notice, or just assume yours is a particually strong one. A dealer does not have the facilities to detect an ECU remap. If for some reason they decided to send your ECU back to Germany, Bosch or specialist technicians at BMW could - but you'd have had the car put back to standard in that very unlikely event!
4. If i want to upgrade the cip version later, by upgrading does it erase the remapping?
No, not normally. It's very unusual for BMW to change the engine map. If you go with a decent tuner (although I understand given your location your options might be limited) they should re-load the remap in the unlikley event of this occuring.
5. What other mods can i work on the engine to boost it's performance but not to stress it too much? Air filters ...?
You could change air filter and exhaust, but these are things the dealer will notice and may raise their suspicion, and compared to a remap you get very little performance increase for your money.
6. Does the M kit come with a lower suspension then normal?
Yes.
