you want to do all this for "storage"? If you mean a smokers tray and lighter then ok i guess. I have this "drawer" and never open it. What do you expect to store in there anyway? It will be less space than that open shelf I think.

Is there a version of the slide out tray that is "full size" and does not have the lighter/smokers tray?
